FAQ
Is ObiDog gear made of BioThane?
We are often compared to BioThane, but we have gone a step further. We use Hexa (for leashes) and PawTex (for harnesses/collars) materials.
Like BioThane, they are 100% waterproof, easy to clean, and odor-resistant. However, Hexa material has a significant advantage – it is softer and features a honeycomb pattern, ensuring the leash doesn't slip in your hands even in the rain and doesn't "burn" your palms if the dog pulls. PawTex, on the other hand, is highly scratch-resistant and visually resembles leather while maintaining the durability of synthetic material.
Frequently asked question
Use this text to answer questions in as much detail as possible for your customers.
What does "Anatomically Correct" harness mean?
Anatomically correct harnesses (often called Y-shaped harnesses) are constructed to fully free the dog's shoulder joints and shoulder blades. Unlike horizontal ("Norwegian" type) harnesses that block the dog's movement, the OBIDOG Y-design allows the dog to move naturally. Furthermore, the neckline is designed so that the straps do not rest on the trachea (windpipe), preventing choking and coughing when pulling.
What leash length should I choose for daily walks?
Modern dog training trends and research clearly recommend using leashes at least 5 meters long for daily walks.
Why? A short leash (1-2m) creates constant tension, which causes stress for the dog and encourages them to pull even more. A 5-meter (or longer) leash gives the dog the opportunity to "read the news" (sniff), communicate with the environment, and move freely. Paradoxically, this makes the walk calmer – a dog that can satisfy its curiosity pulls less.
Which is better for the dog – a collar or a harness?
While a collar is convenient for quick potty breaks or attaching an ID tag, a harness is a much safer choice for long walks and active leisure.
If the dog (or owner) suddenly jerks the leash, a collar creates a massive impact on the dog's neck vertebrae, thyroid, and windpipe. A harness distributes this pressure evenly across the dog's chest, protecting the dog's health in the long run.
Where is OBIDOG gear made?
All OBIDOG gear is handmade in Northern Europe, Latvia.
We are not resellers. Every leash, harness, and collar is individually crafted in our workshop, led by a professional dog trainer. This allows us to ensure the highest quality control for every stitch and detail.
How to correctly use a dog safety belt in the car?
The most important rule: The car safety belt must be attached ONLY to the harness (ideally – to the back ring), never to a collar!
In the event of sudden braking, the dog will fly forward with all its weight. If the belt is attached to a collar, it can cause fatal injuries to the neck. By attaching it to the harness, the dog is held securely in place, protecting both them and the driver.
